Guestbook 2004
Eric Clapton is the best guitarist that ever lived period I don't care what people say about
Hendrix. Clapton plays many more styles than Hendrix anyway. Your version of how my guitar gently weeps at the
Concert for George was amazzzzzzzzzzzzzing I can't believe you auctioned of
Blackie at the Crossroads but at leas it was for a good cause. Don't forget your still god and the king of the cry baby.

Hey to all of my fans here! It's great to see so many people still
appreciating my music. I saw somebody earlier say that I "win" over Jimi Hendrix. I can tell you now though, Jimi was a close friend of mine and if he was still alive today, I am sure he would be the triple-inductee of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, not me. But anyway, thanks for all the positive comments, it really is a great website.

Hello,
First time on this site, liked it very much. I fell in love with Eric Clapton's music 20 years ago, since that moment never fell out of it!!! Humanity, love and feeling this man has, he shows in his music. I went to see him in Montreal in 1988 never could forget it, still have the ticket. Any sort of music he makes is great, he could play opera like music and I would be the first to listen to it.
This is true God, is in that man, music played like that you don't hear it often. Maybe other guitar player play faster than he does, but without the feeling that E.C. has, without the warmth, and the humanity, the humility has well. Love you E.C. with all my heart, wish you a lot of happiness and love in your life, you are blessed.
From Québec City with lots of friendship. xxxxxxxxx

I should firstly like to commend you on producing such a fascinating and enjoyable web site to a true exponent of all that is guitar.
My first recollections of EC focus upon "I Shot The Sheriff" in the seventies, which at that time fell on 'deaf' ears (I had yet to become an EC fan). However, I have since completed the transformation and am a total and utter EC stalwart.

The first time I see Eric live was at his last stop of this tour in Hollywood Bowl 8/2/04. He was awesome, absolutely awesome. His guitar was entrancing which didn't exactly surprise me, but I am also so impressed by his beautiful singing voice, the shine on his overtone is stunning but somehow seems to get lost in recordings. I love the honesty in his delivery. My non-fan friend thanked me profusely for inviting her to see Eric Clapton live. She was blown away. I hope Eric continue to perform live for many many years to come. I will definitely be there. Many Thanks to the Webmaster for putting up this website. Grace

At the heart of science is an essential tension between two seemingly
contradictory attitudes -- an openness to new ideas, no matter how bizarre
or counterintuitive they may be, and the most ruthless skeptical scrutiny
of all ideas, old and new. This is how deep truths are winnowed from deep
nonsense. Of course, scientists make mistakes in trying to understand the
world, but there is a built-in error-correcting mechanism: The collective
enterprise of creative thinking and skeptical thinking together keeps the
field on track.

Eric Clapton does not play music-he feels it and makes it. He is not an entertainer-he is a musician. Unfortunately, our air waves are filled with entertainers who don't have the first clue of what music is. Crossroads Guitar Festival was one of the highlights of my life. If you were not there to experience it, there are no words to explain it or do it justice; it exceeded every expectation that my husband & I had. The concert 2 weeks later in Atlanta was equally outstanding. My daughter thought she was going to the concert to be entertained by watching me; she left in complete awe. I left with the coolest T-shirt I own-a Jimmie Vaughan green Cadilac. "Sweet Home Chicago" in the encore was absolutely phenomenal. After watching multiple performers at Crossroads, all tremendous, but some with various exagerated movements and antics; when Clapton strolls on stage, with minimal movement, but outrageous performance and sound, my husband's comment: "See, there ain't nothin' to it." He makes it look so easy. I hope he reads this stuff. Eric Clapton, without exception, you are the best and I thank you for the hours of pleasure, enjoyment and entertainment your talent and music have provided. Rhonda Kelley, Montgomery, AL

The show last night was fantastic! So much energy! I think it is the best show I have seen so far. "God" has been reborn!! The remix of "I Shot the Sheriff" was a nice twist to an old
favourite. I was disappointed that Nathan East didn't take his turn in the solo spotlight. It was also great to see Eric's family attending the show. He did make a comment about his "new hometown". As long as the McEnery's live in Columbus, I imagine he will continue to play here. How great is that!!!

Great Clapton site.
I love his music and before I was professional as a bass player, I used to play
Clapton covers in a pub band, with my ciggie smoking wedged in the headstock (GREAT DAYS)
spent most summers listening to Clapton who got me into RnB.

Dear Mr. Clapton,
I and my sister are avid fans of yours and have attended numerous concerts - our favorite of all time was in May 1992 at the Hartford Civic Center in Harford, Connecticut. Since 1994 you perform in New York City and Massachusetts bypassing the state in-between Connecticut and wonder why this is? You are certainly admired and loved here as well and so many of your fans are disappointed that you have not performed here in ten years. Is there any chance that you will be adding dates and that Hartford might be one them? We would love to see you again since you are the ultimate guitarist and always provide your audience with a show that they remember for ever.

I went to the June 11, 2004 EC show at Alltel Arena in Little Rock, AR. I love EC but i really feel like I was sold short on the show.....I am very disappointed as I felt the EC left WAY too much music in the sack. Also, he only played for a little over an hour. For $85 per ticket, I expected a LOT more than 75 minutes of live music and for EC to play a LOT more than he did. I still ove EC and his music, but am VERY disappointed with his latest live show.

Hi friends,
I work in a High school in L.A. This year we had a peace concert with realy good musicians and we plan to do it every year. Next year is going to be in March and I love to dream. I know that Clapton had play in several benefict concerts and I will love to try to get him for next year's peace concert. In times like this the students need to see world famous personalities make a stand for world peace. I know that I am dreaming but, Do you know anyway to make him get an invitation for the next year peace concert?
This year we had music from Australia, Brasil, the Middle east and USA. Help me dream

My father, Michael Phelps, is a very big fan of yours. I just spent my check on three tickets for your July 15th concert in Indianapolis. Besides me, your music has helped him through the problems with his life at the moment. You have touched both of our lives with your music and have helped me keep a good head on through this hard times, with being a full time college student, working almost full time now that my mother left and trying to make sure my father doesn't go nuts even more, I just wanted to say thanks and can not wait to see you for the first time in person; well I guess closer then I have before in my life time. Thanks again for the music and the memories to go with those words to which help heal the mind from time to time.
Thanks again,

What a great day it was at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas yesterday. EC looked like he was really enjoying himself on stage with BB King, Jimmy Vaughn, & Buddy Guy. It was most definitely a once in a lifetime thing for me and 40,000 others, if not for them. He played a great hour long set that included songs from "Me and Mr. Johnson”, "Have You Ever Loved a Woman," "Badge," "Layla" and "Cocaine". We were all disappointed when the grand finale was cut do to impending bad weather (which did not come about - they could have & should have played more - but then does anyone ever want him to stop - we could listen to him forever). I anxiously await my next chance to see & hear him live. Thanks EC for a wonderful day.

Hey guys,
I'm a huge EC fan, but I don't want to pay the money to be a member of this site so I can use the message board. I just got a recording of the BBC release and I must say it's amazing. I'm loving the setlists, although I think the shows could be a little longer. I have a question. Have any of you heard the Allman Brothers' version of Layla or Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad? Both are unbelievable. Allmans fans really regard Layla, and in fact that whole album, as their own because Duane played such a huge role in its creation. If I'm not mistaken he wrote the main riff for Layla. The Allman Brothers are really the best band going right now, and as of now their 2 guitarists are the best in the world (Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks), yes I will even go so far as to say that RIGHT NOW they surpass Clapton. They just push the envelope so much. Derek Trucks takes all of the solos in Layla and plays with such emotion. He's only 24, wow. I would like to hear your feedback if you've heard the ABB version of these songs, and I'd also like to know if Eric's heard those versions. Thanks.

Dear Eric,
Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. Your music has made many a hard time for me seem better. I have loved the Blues since I was a teenager and first heard Ray Charles, many years ago. I have watched over the years as your presence, voice and guitar playing have only become better as you matured into someone who appears to be a first class gentleman. I applaud the work you are doing at your clinic, it is rare to see someone in the entertainment profession give back. I will be at your concert on July 3rd and am truly looking forward to seeing you once again.

Greetings fellow E.C. fans! I've been a huge fan of Eric's since I was 10! I'm 42 years old and I love him more than ever. No other musician has ever touched my heart the way Eric has. He is truly a musical genius and I appreciate everything he has given to the world through his music. Yesterday I flew from the north of Sweden to Stockholm and I wanted something to read during the flight. I bought the april issue of the music- and filmmagazine "Uncut". There was a long interview with Eric Clapton, I really enjoyed reading it. Along with the magazine there was a CD with musical choises by Eric. There is Freddy King, Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James and others and, believe it or not, Luciano Pavarotti an Choeur De L'Orchestre Symphonique De Montréal!!! 15 tracks of wonderful music that Eric himself likes to listen to. I played it when I came home and there is some real good blues music on it, the Pavarotti piece and the Choir singin' isn't that bad either. Why don't you buy it, lay down on your bed, your sofa or in a comfortable armchair, take a cup of coffea, a bear or something, put the CD in your player and enjoy the music, read the interview...and enjoy it too!

ERIC CLAPTON SAVED MY LIFE.
Just wanted to let all you guys know how absolutely AMAZING eric's new album "Me and Mr Johnson" is - if you haven't already got a copy, stop reading right now and go by one!!! I cannot believe how faithful he is to the original recording - you can hardly tell them apart!!! Though obviously, the Clapton versions are much much better - especially Hot Tamales, which is my all time favourite song, an absolute work of genius. What amazes me the most is the fact that Eric is able to play three guitars, bass, drums, harmonica, keyboards etc etc etc all at the same time. An absolute LEGEND!!!
World's biggest Eric fan
USA - Thursday, May 13, 2004 at 08:16:11 (CDT)
Just wanted to say how utterly utterly dissapointed I was with eric's last banal offering. "Me and Mr Johnson" is just plain embarrasing. What's the point in taking a great pre-war acoustic performer like Johnson and butchering the entire concept by feeding it through the generic wheels of the chicago muzak machine? I feel that Eric personally owes me twelve pounds!!! What's worse is the fact that the supposedly "blues loving" Eric seems to have completely missed the point - no passion, no soul, no idea!!! One is forced to reach the conclusion that "slow hand" simply got too slow-handed to sit down with his guitar and offer the tribute that Johnson deserves!

Yes Robert Randolf is some guy on the Steel guitar. I've never heard it played the way he does it. The version of
voodoo Chile, was remarkable. And Eric then brought him on during the encore to trade licks at the end of Sunshine of Your Love. I was at the Dublin concert.

I saw Eric in Dublin on April 23rd. He hadn't played in Dublin since February 1991. The guitar solos were amazing. The band were excellent. He played some songs that he hasn't played live for over 20 years. The crowd were very
knowledgeable of the songs and appreciative of the musicians. Watch out for an incredible support act - Robert Randolf & the Family Band. Thanks Eric, great night!

Eric played in Dublin in the Point Depot last night to a seel out crowd. First Irish gig in over 20 years. I first saw him play in Dublin in 1977. Hes my favourite musician, and he gets better with age.
He started last nights gig, Let it Rain, and another suprise was Walk out in the Rain from the Backless album.
The band and the sound was perfect and the light show impressive. Eric is still "God"

HI, yesterday night will be stay in my mind clearly for the rest of my life! Clapton played for more than 1 and an half an hour (in Ahoy Rotterdam), but for my feeling it was too short, hehe time flies by if you're having fun.
God Eric this wont be the last concert from you where I will be,
I really loved the way you played the solo's.......so cool,
I couldn't take my eyes of your guitar and your fingers, it really gives me I
wonderful feeling to hear and see you play that sweet guitar like you did..
And than I was very glad that you played "Layla" and "Cocain", thank you Clapton:)
See you hopefully very soon again..

I thought Britney Spears had made the world forget what music was all about. I thought there was no hope, and the people of my generation had no idea what good music, REAL music, by talented, sincere artists was. It is so wonderful to see that there are still people roaming the Earth who are not just products of the Britney Spears, Backstreet Boy generation. Peace, Love, Freedom.

Dear Mr. Clapton,
It really is a remarkable thing!!! The words you wrote on your new album " Me & MR. Johnson" are identical to what I would say about you sir. I don't want to sound like a teeny-bopper or crazed fan but I do want you to know that I'm sure I am not alone in stating this. When things get tough, your music always pulls me through. Your work and commitment and that of your outstanding band keep improving with every release. Please keep them coming!! I eagerly await your visit to Ft. Lauderdale and assure you I will be there again hopefully closer than ever as I have been every time you have been in South Florida. Again congratulations on a great new album and a wonderful new family, God Bless!

Clapton is the out right king of guitar playing. Never mind the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Mark Knopfler (Although these are also great guitarists) Clapton wins hands down, and he always will, and this site lets us Clapton fans explore his hidden depths and realise he is truely a remarkable musician, for he is the one and only, and there won't be another like him, EVER!

Happy Birthday, Mr Clapton! About 40 years ago in the late 60's I heard about you the first time when a classmate of mine played the Beano-album for me. I'm sorry to say it didn't catch my attention that day. But now, almost 50 years old, I bought it this week so now I alternate between that 40 year old recording and your latest CD Me and Mr Johnson...and I enjoy them both very much. I'll buy some more CD's, cause I'm just beginning to learn how to play blues on my guitar, and you are the best guide I can find!

I always admired Sir Derek! In fact I named my two children after him - my eldest Erica (who is 20 yrs. already!) and my only boy Derrick (who is 15 and a guitar enthusiast also). I watched Mr. Clapton's one and only concert here in the Philippines back in the 70's then when I was in high school. I think that was the time he was in the dumps because he was heavily involved in drugs. Also he was a contract talent of Robert Stigwood (RSO Records). At any rate, his one-nite concert will be considered the most memorable for me. I also watched here Stevie Wonder, Santana, Phil Collins, Sting and even Michael Jackson. I hope Mr. Clapton comes back to do us the honor of another concert. I'm pretty sure he'll pack the stadium to the rafters.

Man, I can hardly wait until I can get my hands on "Me and Mr. Johnson". I believe at one time Clapton felt it would be wrong to do covers of Johnson's music because he held him in such high esteem....I find it is only fitting that he be the one to issue an album of his covers. I think it would be really great to see Eric do a tour with Keb Mo, as those are the two contemporary artists who really know how to bring the feeling to the songs by the masters. Thanks, Eric Clapton, for doing what you do!

His play was the reason why I finally decided to learn to play the guitar at the age of 13. Now I'm 18, and I'm so thankful. I have a message for EC: why don't you come to Hungary? It's such a beautiful country with a lot of "Slowhand-fans", and I know a lot, including my father. Please! -thanks a lot guys, Zoli

Hi. Currently I am a stay-at-home Mom in southern California. Many years ago I was arrested at a Clapton show, and was in K.C. the night after SRV died - but missed that concert as well. Will I ever get to see Clapton?

Thank you Mr. Clapton for all the years of your music. Whenever I am feeling a little down I just listen to one of your CD's and feel better immediately. The last two years of my life have been rough and your voice and guitar playing has offered some relief. My mother was from Swansea and married my father during World War II. For the last five years of her life she was bed ridden and when we would put on your videos of concerts she would seem to perk up. So never forget the power your talent has on your many fans.

I am looking for the name of a song.
In the film TWISTER, when the couple were in the pick up following the tornado, in the radio, you can hear, at very low volume, Eric singing a song.
Does anybody know the name and in which CD can I find it?
My e-mail is rjromano@tutopia.com
Thanks!!!!

I have been a huge fan for many years, and recently introduced my other half to EC. It seems his appeal stretches everywhere because he is a bigger fan than me now. One song in particular touched him, and that is rare. So I would like to thank EC for the music and this website for helping to bring it to the masses

I have always loved your song "Tears in Heaven" but up until recently it didn't have quite the meaning that it does now. I too, lost my son in Lake Havisu, AZ. He wrecked his Harley and was airborne for approx. 30 ft. and coming to a rest in a neighbors front yard. I'm from Colorado and unfortunately he passed away just as I was walking out the door to catch a flight from Denver. I've never known such pain. I'm sure the pain is still there for you as it is me and will be forever. Please tell me, at what point does it get any easier?
Thank you

Great website! I found it just a few weeks ago when I started looking for concert tickets online. I have been a fan of Eric Clapton for 30+ years, but have never seen him in concert. I just bought a ticket last week for his first concert at Royal Albert Hall in May 2004, and am flying to London just to see the concert. I am really excited about seeing him live at last. I am a real blues fan and NOBODY can play the blues like Eric. I have been listening to all the music I have of his at work for the last several weeks in anticipation of the concert, and have introduced many of my co-workers to some of his music that they have never heard. Thanks Eric, for four decades of great music. You have always been someone who sounds best live, because you never know where the music will take you, and the sound is always different. The best blues are always better live! Thanks for a great website! Keep up the good work.

Hi,
its a great site for EC which is for sure one of the best guitarists in the world.
the only thing that's not so cool, is paying for a membership, do you really need that? maybe think about it.

I would like to congratulate Mr. Clapton on his new addition to his family. I would like to sincerely thank Mr. Clapton for his work and I can honestly say that his music and talent has carried me throughout the most painful and happiest times of my life almost like a best friend or even a family member. My life, and the countless many he has helped, is better because of Eric Clapton, what else is there to say!!!

What is the story on the album CE was recording with the Impressions? Surprised to see the Robert Johnson tribute announced...I'm sure it will be an excellent album, but I thought that the Impressions collaboration was to be EC's next release.

Hi Eric,
Without knowing you personally I feel that we are a lot alike. I have also had my heartaches and
disappointments and sometimes I don't know if it is worth carrying on. Whenever I feel down and out I play one of your numbers and then threw the tears I find
strength to carry on. My greatest wish is to be present at one of your concerts and I have promised myself that i will still
achieve this before I die. Thanks for the music and for the role model you have become for many of us. Be strong as you have been overcoming many
obstacles AND HAVE GIVEN ME THE STRENGH TO DO THE SAME.

You are the best! I absolutely can't get enough of your music. My wife and I were listening to one of the 9/11 memoriall events, when we heard a single note -- I new instantly that it was you! My wife was amazed at how aware I am to your style of music. I have been listening to your music for 30 years and it just does not get any better than that. Keep enjoying what you do because others enjoy it too!
