If you are lucky enough to find this album...buy it because you will not be disappointed. Clapton has always been simpatico with harp players and saxophonists (e.g., King Curtis) and here he and David Sanborn demonstrate that they are on the same wavelength. Sanborn is able to push Clapton in a way that very few musicians can and the results can be spectacular. "Knockin' On Heaven's Door", "The Embassy", and "Medley: The Shipyard / Knockin' On Heaven's Door" are incredible tracks. Clapton's work on "The Embassy" in particular reminds me of his one-time peer/and friend...Jimi Hendrix. As an added bonus, purchasing this album will also let you hear one of George Harrison's hidden treasures; "Cheer Down". |
